What this site collects, and what it does not.

This page covers corvexal.net. It does not cover EMBER, which collects different things for different reasons and carries its own notice.

The short version

This site has no analytics, no advertising, no cookies of its own, no tracking pixels, and it makes no requests to any third-party host, the fonts are served from this domain and there is nothing else to load. Nothing on this site follows you anywhere. The only personal data it receives is what you type into a form and choose to send: one of the four doors on the contact page, or the Arc Citizen card, which is a single email field and opens from the profile button in the top bar as well as from the Network page.

What is collected

What you send us
Whatever you enter in a form. On the four contact doors that is your name and email address, and depending on the door, your institution or company, your role, a rough student count, what you teach, ticket size, timeline, outlet or deadline, and anything you write in a free text field. On the Arc Citizen card it is your email address and which of the three sign-in buttons you pressed, if you pressed one: that is the whole record, and there is no password to store because the card never asks for one.
Server logs
Our host records ordinary web-server data when a page is requested: IP address, the page requested, the time, the browser's user-agent string. This is how a static site is served and how abuse is stopped. It is not linked to a person by us.
Cookies
None set by this site. Because none are set, there is no cookie banner: a banner that asks permission for nothing is theatre, and the law does not require one for cookies that do not exist.

Why

To answer you. That is the entire purpose of the contact forms, and the lawful basis is our legitimate interest in replying to someone who has deliberately written to us, and, where you have entered it yourself, your consent to being contacted back.

Your details are not sold, not rented, not shared for advertising, and not used to build a profile.

Who else touches it

The site is hosted on Netlify, which serves the pages and receives form submissions before passing them to us. They are a processor acting on our instructions. The current sub-processor list and the data-processing terms we rely on are the ones Netlify publishes as our processor.

Form submissions are held by Netlify, our host. The storage region is named here before this notice is relied on.

How long it is kept

This period is not yet set, and it is deliberately not guessed at here. A number invented for the look of the page is the one mistake on this site that would have legal weight rather than reputational weight. It will be written here as a specific period, for each category above, before this notice is relied on.

Until then: if you want what you sent us deleted, ask, and it will be deleted.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to stop using it, and object to us using it at all. You do not need a reason and you will not be treated differently for asking.

Write to hello@corvexal.net. A person reads it. A person answers it.

If you are in the UK or the EU and you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your supervisory authority.

Children

This site is aimed at adults making decisions on behalf of students: teachers, administrators, journalists, investors. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from one. EMBER's own notice covers student use.

Who we are

The data controller is Corvexal, in Chicago, Illinois. The registered company name and postal address are published here before this notice is relied on.

Changes

If this notice changes materially, the date below changes with it and the previous version stays available on request. This version has not been dated for publication.
